The council had announced a total of 341 vacancies to be filled through this recruitment exam. The defence services offered through the Combined Defence Services Examination are:

- IMA (Indian Military Academy)
- OTA: Men (Officers’ Training Academy)
- OTA: Women (Officers’ Training Academy)
- INA (Indian Naval Academy)

India successfully hosted the Combined Defence Services Examination Phase 1 on April 16, 2023.
